Snowing in Yakutsk
Today is the not the first time when the Yakutsk dwellers have seen snowing. A few weeks ago one might see snow flakes descending from the sky. Not so much and not enough to cover streets with a total white blanket. Atmospheric precipitation of that kind took place from time to time. This morning was totally different. Surface appeared under wide white spots and puddles have got really icy. That means snow is penetrating our lives deeper and vaster. Real winter is coming!
It will take just a few days to push people into the grasp of coldness. We have to say “Farewell, warm days! Hello, winter! Hope you will have mercy on us.” On the other hand, we rest our hopes upon housing and communal services. They should do their best to make us feeling comfortable inside buildings. Otherwise, we'll have another state of emergency. The last one was steady raining.
Right, till next May people will be forced to spend most of day time inside buildings, lack daytime, and drink hot tea. What does real Siberian winter look like? Just read the article “Winter in Yakutia” written by Alexandra Markova, a Yakutsk State University student.
Meanwhile, outside we have +1º +3ºC, 5-10 m/s western wind, 745 millimeters of mercury, and 86% humidity.
Within Yakutia the first who experience this autumn snowing as usual were residents of southern districts – Nerungrinsky (related news), Aldansky and Lensky. They have been living in winter condition since the midst of September. Wait! Arctic districts were engaged in snow dance since early August.
