Current position: the Representative of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in Moscow.
Born in November 10, 1954 in Kyukey settlement of Suntarsky region of the Yakut Autonomus Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1976 graduated from the Faculty of Economy of Irkutsk Institute of National Economy. Doctor of economy. Honoured Worker of the National Economy of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Decorated with the Order of the “Honour Sign”. In 1976-1983 worked as Department Head, Chief Economist of “Suntarsky” Sovkhoz, First Secretary of Suntarsky Regional Committee of the Leninist Young Communist League of the Soviet Union, Director of “Toybokhoysky” Sovkhoz of Suntarsky region.
In 1983-1986 worked as First Secretary of Yakutsk Regional Committee of the Leninist Young Communist League of the Soviet Union.
In 1986-1989 – post-graduate student of the Academy of Social Sciences in Moscow. Successfully presented candidate’s dissertation: “New in the regional policy of developing the North (on the example of Yakutia).”
In 1989-1990 Head of the Agrarian Department of Yakutsk Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. In 1990-1991 – Head of the Sector on Issues of Economic and Social Development of the Secretariat of the Supreme Soviet of Yakutskaya-Sakha Soviet Socialist Republic.
In 1991 appointed Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Economics of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
In 1992-1997 – Minister of Social Protection, Labour and Employment of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
In 1995 on the Scientific Council of the Academy of State Service under the President of the Russian Federation successfully presented the doctor’s dissertation on “Regulating social development of a region in conditions of market economy formation.”
1997-1997 – Acting Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) – Minister of Economy of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
In 1998 appointed Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
In 1999-2001 worked as First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
In 2001-2002 – First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) – Head of the Administration of the President and the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
In 2002-2007 – Vice-President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Head of the Administration of the President and the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
Since Feb. of 2007 Alexander Akimov is the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in Moscow.
